DYNAMICAL DAMPING OF THE FLEXIBLE ROD PARAMETRIC OSCILLATIONS
Nonlinear parametric flexural oscillations of a vertical beam under vertical periodic excitation of its base are considered. Lateral beam oscillations are decreased near the main parametric resonance due to additional rigid body - freely sliding disc along rod’s axis, - is presented. Study is carried out using multiple scales method. It is shown, that motion with stable position of the disc on the rod is possible under certain relationship between system parameters. This disc position minimizes the amplitude of lateral beam oscillations.
