Contact interactions in the problem of tooth chain transmission dynamics
Stepan Orlov, Yury Ispolov
The problem of modeling the contact interactions
in tooth chain transmission is considered.
Chain plates are connected by pins
consisting of two halves. Rolling of two rigid
pin halves without slip is called normal. Contact
forces are determined by deviation of
actual rolling from normal one. Contact
interaction between teeth of the chain and
the sprockets takes place at contact points.
Special algorithm for the determination of
contact points is developed. The algorithm
uses a tree-like search structure consisting
of circles embedded within each other.
