Galloping of the light body in media flow
Vitaly Samsonov
One of typical problems of the wind engineering is investigation (modeling) of the dynamics of elastically mounted constructional elements subject to the action of wind. The oscillations of these elements “along the wind” arise, as a rule, when the flow is unsteady. The oscillations “across the wind”, which were probably first described by Den Harthog (see e.g. [Den Harthog, 1960]), are more interesting.
Here the behavior of the element supposing quasistatic character of flow action on the body is discussed.
