REPULSION AND DIFFUSION OF LOCALIZED STATES IN AN EXCITABLE SYSTEM WITH DELAY

We show that an excitable optical system, when submitted to a very weak delayed feedback, emits pulses corresponding to periodic regeneration of excitable spikes. When discussed in the framework of an equivalent spatially extended systems, these spikes can be interpreted as localized states of light, which can be addressed independently. We discuss the interaction and stochastic motion of these localized states.
